The Grand Slam Australian tournament is coming soon and the main favorites are still in competition, both on the male and the female. In the quarter-finals the women’s competition will take place between Germanian Angelique Kerber and American Madison Keys.

Angelique Kerber
The 30-year-old German player now occupies the 16th place in the WTA standings.
After a bad 2017 year, Angelique began the year 2018 exceptionally, being a virgin from that start, enforcing all the matches at the Hopman Cup, winning the Sydney tournament.
The Australian Open was a solid one for Kerber, winning a very clear victory in the 3rd round against Maria Sharapova, while in the finals optimal returned from 0-1 to sets against Su-Wei Hsieh .

Madison Keys
The 22-year-old US player is currently ranked 20th in the WTA standings.
Season 2017 was a great success for Keys, reaching the final act of the US Open tournament, this being the best result of his career.
While in Brisbane he has left the competition since the first round, the Australian Open has made extremely solid matches, with all four wins being in minimum of sets, very clear.

Direct meetings
Australian Open tournament match will be the 8th straight encounter between the two players, Kerber leading with a “drastic” 6-1, the last four direct confrontations coming to him.
