UEFA continues to emphasize the completion of the domestic championships

Representatives of 55 members of the European Football Federation (Uefa) spoke about the possibility of continuing football matches. The clear message of the videoconference was that the individual national federations should play the championship and the cup until the end. The closing date for the individual championships is scheduled to be 3 August. European club and national team competitions will be discussed on Thursday at a meeting of the UEFA Executive Board.

The situation in the different leagues is very different due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus, so Uefa suggests that the leagues finish the championship according to the existing format, and if necessary, the leagues can also change the format of competitions. Uefa, led by Slovenian Alexander Cheferrin, is therefore ready to decide on individual exceptions, such as the allocation of places in the European Cups, should individual cancellations occur. One of the main topics of the meeting was the timetable for European club and national team competitions. For now, Uefa is prioritizing national competitions, and will be discussing international ones next Thursday at an IO video conference. According to some information, all championships in Europe are expected to end by 3 August.

There have already been some opportunities to play matches for additional qualifiers for the European Championship. Uefa is looking for dates between September and November this year. The final decision on this will be known at the May IT conference.
